Productive day

Today was Freya's 3rd birthday!

She stopped by for just a short visit.

Danny processed a whole bunch of meat he got at Costco
and now we have a bunch of pre-packaged meals
in the freezer

Pork belly - never bought it before but the meat selection
was already a bit low at Costco

View of the casita from our balcony - all the
walls are up now!

What a beautiful view - even on a cloudy day

Ended the day with a game of Settlers

Happy 20th Ryan!!

Another quarantine birthday in the family - and this one was so hard because there wasn't even a way
to drive to Ryan's house and stand outside with a big sign or drop off a cake.  In my wildest imagination I would hire a plane to fly a banner over his city to say Happy Birthday and we love you! But he lives far away and so this was the best we could do.  Hoping he feels how loved and missed he is by all of us, and how hard it is be apart.

But that doesn't mean we didn't think about him all day - reliving the day he was born, reliving all the joy he has brought us through the years, looking at old pictures and recalling other birthdays.  Celebrating who he is, what he means to our family, all of his amazing accomplishments, and looking forward to the day we can celebrate a family gathering again.

Missing him every day - but especially today.

This picture showed up in my Instagram memories today... still love it.  My favorite picture of me and Ryan.

Making the most of it all

Picked some "flowering vines" from the backyard

Indy was bored

Things always get worse before they get better - right?

First wall up!

Danny made us a lovely dinner of lobster rolls, sweet potato
fries, and a drink to wash it down!

Weekend that felt "normal"

This weekend felt a little bit like normal life used to.
The concrete truck came - and since we are all so starved for something
new to look at, I made pancakes and bacon and coffee and Maria and Hannah
came over!

It was oddly satisfying to watch the guys smooth
out the cement

We ended up making margaritas for all!
It was fun to hang out with people outside of each other,
have a drink (over the fence haha)
and get to know the guys Danny works with.

We even ordered Greek food for dinner!

And today Matt and Maria came by - it was the first
time I had really seen Matt since this whole thing started.

Needless to say, that absolutely made my day!!
It was awesome to see him and be able to chat a little bit!

All in all - a great, nearly normal weeekend!!

Lovely, bright corner of the house, even with
the windows partially boarded

"Construction" update

Today it doesn't look a whole lot different, but they were out there all
day preparing for the concrete to be poured on Saturday.

Our neighbors must be annoyed.
Oh yeah - wait -
nobody even comes out of their house to see
the mess.

This pelican has jokingly been dubbed the "mascot"
by Danny's construction guys.
This is their second project with him
and they brought this guy all the way from the
first site to this one - saying this will be on all
future jobs!

WHAT A TREAT!!

Casita progress

Really glad to be living in California right about now

Today we had to have a repairman come in the house,
so masks on!

Miss seeing this sweet girl!

Weekends

The addition of the casita is coming along -
this is the beginning of the week.

And the end of the week!

Update on San Diego County statistics

I was getting antsy being in the house sewing -  so decided
it was time to weed the front garden.

My herb garden in the window sill

Nice weekend meal - Ramen for dinner
