Packing Days

Packing up our stay in our beautiful Carlsbad rental is so bittersweet.
So many memories.
We will miss seeing the ocean out the back windows.
We will miss the spacious home with space for everything.
We will miss having a home, a guesthouse, and an office.
We will miss being 5 minutes from Succulent and a bunch of other great stuff.

BUT!!!!
We are coming back as soon as we find a home to buy!!
So farewell for a little while, hello to AZ for a little while, and hello again to CA for hopefully a long time.

The dogs are definitely "feeling something in the air."
Indy has spent a lot of time down in the guesthouse and he and Freya seem inseparable.
They love each other so much.

This is my favorite room in the house and I will miss it.
It is so bright and so cheerful.
Many cups of coffee were sipped on those couches and chairs.

Packing up Hannah's inventory of flowers

And as we leave CA during its prettiest time,
we are headed to Prescott which recently got record-breaking snow!
Two feet!
Yikes

Sweet dogs looking out the back waiting for Matt and Maria to come back.

I really hope that someday we will have a permanent home and no longer
need to visit one of these.
Storage units.

My Matt and his sweet Maria went out one last time (for now!) to celebrate
their Anniversary!
A beautiful couple - both inside and out.

Happy Anniversary!
So glad you are part of our life Maria!

Weekend in AZ

We drove Hannah to Tucson to spend the weekend with Jacob, and then Danny and I drove on up to Prescott to drop off some things and get the house ready for our temporary stay there!

Sights along the way

We ate dinner at the Angry Crab!  So yummy!

Had a quick bite with Jacob before heading back to CA

We never expected to hit SNOW in San Diego county on our return back

The picture above and below were seen during the SAME six hour drive.
Crazy.

Valentines Day

This Valentines Day started off with Valentines for all from Maria! She spread the love and joy around generously without a second thought.  This is just who she is.
Giver of joy.
Giver of encouragement.
Giver of love.

She got donuts for Matt - and he shared them around.

This package arrived and I thought it was a Valentines Day gift from Danny.
I know that's strange, but...this is my favorite snack and I haven't been able to find them anywhere.
Anyways, as  I opened the box I saw that they were actually a gift from my sister who searched high and low to find them for me!
Thanks Cath!!!

These beauties were a gift from my true and faithful Valentine...the love of my life...
Danny.

Indy had a pretty special day today too!  He got a toy from Maria and a special naptime with his best friend!

Little Italy

We drove Matt and Maria to the airport the other day to catch their flight to Cancun, and in order to avoid traffic we went down early and spent some time in Little Italy - now one of my favorite sections of San Diego.

Seems like Little Italy is packed in every nook and cranny with something interesting to look at.

Stopped in at a HUGE art store to pick up some supplies

My handsome Matt!
He and Maria took us to an amazing restaurant

with the best scallops I have ever tasted!

Right next door was a trendy little ice cream shop with eclectic flavors

Really loving San Diego more each time I go down there.

Everyday happenings

Here's Indy waiting inside our bedroom door for Dad to come back.  He wouldn't budge.  He wouldn't even look at me when I called his name!  Just stared intently at the door waiting.
Determination.

My first attempt at a cheesecake in the instant pot!
It was actually yummy!

My view at the dinner table the other night.
Gorgeous.

Some locals (or maybe visitors? haha) at dinner last night.

Memorial gifts made for the Bodine's...

Hannah sent me this beautiful picture of the rain-soaked driveway reflecting the trees.

Sad and gloomy days

The last week has been a very heartbreaking week.  Last Sunday we lost Tommy, my nephew, very unexpectedly.  Ed and Sue are utterly devastated, and the whole family has felt their grief.

Ed set up this memorial in their house the day after Tommy passed away.

And we are currently on day five of extremely wet and gloomy weather.

Even the Super Bowl seemed to be a dud.  The highlight was seeing the dogs play together!
