Today we celebrated Jacob's birthday, and as always, in the shadow of 9/11, but special still. The reason I say "nothing special" is because the waiter at the restaurant thought he was turning 21, and when he asked Jacob how old he was actually turning, and Jacob replied 19, the waiter couldn't think of anything earth-shatteringly unique about that age, said "Oh well, nothing special. But happy birthday anyway!" haha
Combination 9/11 and WWII theme for Jacob's special day
Jacob has a passion for history - most especially the WWII era, so after browsing antique shops last week, we were able to bless him with some neat artifacts from this time period.
Birthday dessert!
I had a cake delivered to Jacob on campus, and it was hilarious hearing the story of him carrying it through campus along with all his ROTC papers and new uniforms. He said he found the shortest route back to his room and still couldn't open the door open himself! haha Wish I could have seen that...

Checking out his special gift in the back of the car.
Happy 19th Birthday Jacob! And I disagree with the waiter - EVERY birthday is special!! It's a day we get to celebrate YOU!!
